Our acupuncture protocols involve minimal needling and a gentle technique. Most clients do not feel any discomfort and find the treatments to be extremely relaxing and effective.
If you are nervous around needles, or have previously had an uncomfortable acupuncture experience please let us know and we'll do our best to address your concerns.
Our goal is to help you feel better and excited about the healing process as soon as possible. Each individual's situation is unique, and many factors may influence how quickly you see results.
Acupuncture starts working right away, as well as most of the other suggestions we make including stress management and self care strategies. Generally speaking, acute treatments (such as a new injury) need fewer treatments that are closely spaced together. Long standing or chronic conditions may require a longer series of treatments, yet we will always work with you to make sure the proposed plan works for you.
Yes, of course. Any of our treatment modalities are meant to support you safely, including any prescription medication you are taking. We are not "anti-medication" and will work with you to safely get the health results you are looking for.
Yes, our therapies work to support you at any stage of trying to conceive. If you are just starting to work with your doctor, are already doing a medicated cycle, IUI or IVF.
We are very familiar with conventional fertility treatment protocols, and offer gentle, effective treatments to support you at any stage.
Acupuncture needles may be applied at various points on the body - it depends on the overall goal of each treatment. We may needle acupuncture points on the hands and feet, arms, legs, head (including ears), back or torso. Know that the acupuncture points may be far from the area of concern (for instance, acupuncture points on the hands or feet to treat a headache), but they are exceptionally powerful.
Effective acupuncture treatments are customized to the individual, and know that there is always an option for alternatives should you feel uncomfortable.
At this time Acupuncture by a Registered Acupuncturist is not covered by OHIP, but it is covered by many private health care plans. We offer a direct billing option to your insurance company, but also provide a receipt if you choose to make a claim yourself.
In Ontario, treatments by an R.Ac can also be claimed as a medical expense on your income tax.
Check with your benefits provider to see if Acupuncture by a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac) is covered by your extended health care plan. If it is NOT and you would like it to be - inquire with your employer about having it added. Most plans are based on consumer demand, so if more employees ask for this coverage it can make a difference as to what employers agree to include in benefit packages.
